Doncaster boss Darren Moore believes this season has to be declared null and void to ‘avoid opening a can of worms’.

The ex-Pompey defender reckons it’s the only fair way – and a better solution than using a points-per-game (PPG) method amid the coronavirus crisis.

It’s looking likely that League One and League Two will end next week, with the logistical issues and a shift in player mood key reasons.

What’s more, the method would mean Pompey finish seventh, despite only sitting two points outside the promotion spots with nine games remaining.

Moore’s Doncaster also had an outside chance of finishing in the play-offs.

But he feels the season should be expunged.

Speaking to the Doncaster Free Press, Moore said: ‘I think the only way you can get out of it now is just saying “it is what it is, it’s one of those things”. Even looking at Liverpool in their current situation (25 points clear at the top of the Premier League), I think you can only null and void it.
